Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin moved within one victory of winning their best-of-five series against FTR on AEW Fright Night Dynamite. The Motor City Machine Guns won the October 28 meeting in St. Louis to take a 2–1 lead.
The series had been level after the Guns won at WrestleDream and FTR answered on the October 24 edition of Collision. Wednesday’s result shifted the pressure back to Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, who now need the next match to keep the series alive.
Series advantage comes with unfinished business
The celebration did not end the conflict. AEW’s official recap describes an attack on Shelley after the match, adding another development to the rivalry even as the Guns left with the result that mattered to the series standings.
For Shelley and Sabin, the arithmetic is straightforward: one more win ends the contest. For FTR, every remaining match is an elimination match.
That distinction creates the next story without requiring a prediction. The Guns have earned an advantage, but a 2–1 lead is not the same as a completed series.
The Motor City team’s next assignment is to convert the position it has built. Until that happens, Wednesday stands as a significant step toward the finish rather than the finish itself.
