PAULDING, Ohio — The Paulding Panthers saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end Friday night, October 23, falling 20-0 to the Tinora Rams in their regular-season finale.
The loss dropped Paulding to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in Green Meadows Conference competition, ending an otherwise impressive regular-season run.
Tinora’s defensive performance prevented Paulding from reaching the scoreboard, handing the Panthers their first shutout defeat of the season.
Despite the setback, Paulding enters the postseason with eight victories and an opportunity to extend its season in the Ohio high school football playoffs.
Tinora Ends Paulding’s Winning Streak
The Panthers entered Friday’s contest having won eight consecutive games following a narrow September 4 loss to Delphos Jefferson.
During that stretch, Paulding established itself as one of the more productive teams in the Green Meadows Conference.
The Panthers defeated Antwerp 52-6, Wayne Trace 27-14 and Ayersville 34-14 before surviving a 35-26 contest against Fairview.
Paulding then delivered back-to-back dominant performances, defeating Edgerton 38-6 and Hicksville 45-6.
However, Tinora brought that momentum to a halt in the regular-season finale.
The Rams held Paulding scoreless while producing 20 points of their own, securing a decisive conference victory.
The result was a significant reversal for a Paulding offense that had averaged 31.5 points per game entering postseason competition.
Panthers Build an Eight-Win Season
Paulding opened the 2026 campaign with an 18-6 victory over Crestview on August 21.
The Panthers followed with a 46-0 shutout of North Central before suffering their first loss, 21-20, against Delphos Jefferson.
That one-point defeat proved to be a turning point.
Paulding responded by winning its next six games, establishing an 8-1 record heading into the Tinora matchup.
The Panthers finished the regular season having scored 315 points while allowing 119.
Their success included five road victories without a defeat away from home, demonstrating an ability to perform outside their home stadium.
Defensive Consistency Remains Important
Although the Panthers struggled offensively against Tinora, their defense has been a consistent strength throughout the season.
Paulding held five regular-season opponents to six points or fewer, including shutouts against North Central and strong defensive efforts against Antwerp, Edgerton and Hicksville.
That defensive foundation could prove valuable as the Panthers prepare for postseason competition.
However, the Tinora loss also demonstrated the importance of establishing offensive rhythm against quality opponents.
The Panthers will need to rediscover the production that carried them through their lengthy winning streak.
Playoff Challenge Against Allen East
Paulding is scheduled to open the Ohio Division VI, Region 22 playoffs on Friday, October 30, with a road matchup against Allen East.
The contest gives the Panthers an immediate opportunity to rebound from their regular-season finale.
A victory would allow Paulding to continue a season that has already featured eight wins and several commanding performances.
For the Panthers, the objective is straightforward: put the Tinora defeat behind them and return to the balanced football that produced their regular-season success.
Final Score: Tinora 20, Paulding 0.
Paulding Regular-Season Record: 8-2 overall, 6-1 Green Meadows Conference.
Next Scheduled Game: Paulding at Allen East, October 30, 2026.
